Induction Cookware

Selecting cookware compatible with an induction cooktop can be confusing! Most department stores and retail sources for cookware are not familiar with the requirements of induction heating. They will sometimes give wrong or conflicting advice concerning cookware selection.

As a general rule copper, aluminum, and glassware will not work on an induction cooktop. Also some types of stainless steel may not work or will heat very slowly. Enamel or porcelain on steel, magnetic stainless steels, and cast iron are all good types of cookware to use on your induction cooktop.

If you are not careful in your selection of cookware for your cooktop, it may not work efficiently or possibly may cause damage to the electronics. As a general rule, if a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware it may work on the Cooktop.

If a magnet does not stick to the cookware, it will not work on an induction cooktop.

Cookware with aluminum or copper layered or sandwiched between stainless steel may work on the cooktop, provided the aluminum or copper is not on the outside layer. This type of cookware tends to be slow to heat.
